We’ve had a little setback for the spring home selling strategies and Metro Detroit Housing market trends. Mortgage rates were under 7% until April 10th, and the inflation report showed that inflation increased by 3.5%. We were anticipating our first interest rate cut in March, and based on February and March inflation data, that did not happen. 

When Will the Real Estate Rush Begin?

The spring rush is moving to summer, as we are not anticipating the first rate cut in June or July. The busiest quarters in the real estate market in Metro Detroit are the 2nd and the 4th. The home-selling market in Metro Detroit is still very strong; we will see the spring rush pushed back a couple of months. For Macomb County the home inventory is still low at -28.5%, the month supply of homes is 1.3 months so it’s still a strong sellers’ market. For Oakland County, the home inventory is still low at -23%; the monthly supply of homes is 1.3 months, so it’s still a strong sellers’ market.
